WHAT IS THE COMMUNITY PLANNING TEAM AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Community Planning Team was divided into six Work Groups. Each Work Group had specific tasks which formed the foundation of the strategic plan.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DIFFERENT WORK GROUPS.

Work Group #1; Data Collection & Analysis:

  • Between November and January this Work Group collected and analyzed the data which defined our community's risk factors.
  • From that data, The Community Planning Team identified the areas of greatest risk for Baker County youth.

Work Group #2; Resource Assessment:

  • Inventoried existing community programs and services for youth and families.
  • Identified gaps.
  • Made recommendations for improving the community's web of protection for youth.

Work Group #3; Objective Decision Making:

  • Created a juvenile justice system flowchart of who makes decision and how they are made.
  • Determined worker options.
  • Determined obstacles to the process or flow.
  • Examined how the system currently works.
  • Made recommendations.

Work Group #4; Legislative/Policy/System/Issues:

  • Reviewed/assessed current laws, policies, procedures.
  • Determined ways to improve system of operation, taking above into account.
  • Identified how data and computer information can be shared.
  • Identified barriers to service and made recommendations as to how to improve coordination of services between systems.

Work Group #5; Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation:

  • Reviewed and prioritized isues and recommendations by all work groups.
  • Develop and publish the 5-year plan.

Work Group #6; Outreach/Communication/Media:

  • Keeping the community stakeholders informed of the process and progress.
  • Kept all work groups informed of each groups progress.
