- Baker County’s 1998 Ready to Learn statistic at 49% is well below the state average of 58%. This is an indicator felt to be connected to the family.
- In the risk factors and data indicators targeted, the highest areas show in the areas of Family, Community, and School.
- Areas that are not considered to be problems are Transitions & Mobility, and Academic Failure.
- While the numbers for Adults in ATOD treatment and Drug use during pregnancy show as being very high, it is not certain that those numbers are an accurate reflection of the rate of Baker County citizens. Baker City is home to three separate drug and alcohol residential treatment facilities, including a specialty facility for women with children and one for teens. While the presence of these facilities will likely cause an imbalance in the statistics, it is nevertheless considered by some to have an impact in areas such as schools and counseling services.
